Human trafficking in Burma and Thailand between 2000 and 2016: a comparative perspective

The thesis approaches an issue of human trafficking in Burma and Thailand between 2000 and 2016. In the first part, the work concentrates on structure of the text, methodological approach, definition of basic concepts, and human trade situation in Southeast Asia. In the second part, trafficking profile of both analysed countries is discussed by using a case study method and comparison of similarities between Burmese and Thai human trafficking.

This master‘s thesis focuses on the issue of trafficking in persons in Thailand in the period of 2002-2017. The thesis answers research questions about the causes, size and consequences of trafficking in the country, as well as the impact of trafficking on the country’s security situation. The work presents approaches to assesing trafficking in persons and explores the most common forms of exploitation. The thesis also focuses on trafficking in persons within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), of which Thailand is a member. The 3P index will be used to gain some deeper understanding of the situation in Thailand and to compare selected ASEAN countries. Due to the specificity of data collecting the thesis uses among literature particularly the reports about trafficking in persons from the US Department of State and other reports from international organizations dealing with this issues and which regularly monitor the situation.
Cooperation of the state and non-governmental non-profit organizations in combating labour exploitation in the Czech Republic

The submitted thesis focuses on the cooperation of the state and non-governmental non-profit organizations in fighting labour exploitation in the Czech Republic. It is one of the most frequent forms of the human trafficking in the CR. The thesis is based on several theories and concepts, such as the actor - network theory, the institutional theory, the Four "C" theory, the NNO theory or the dignified work concept. The thesis analyses the concept of the policy on labour exploitation in the Czech Republic with a focus on the cooperation of main actors from state and non-profit sectors in fighting labour exploitation and proposes how to improve this cooperation. The thesis defines different relevant terms as well as the term "labour exploitation". It also presents statistical data concerning this phenomenon. An analysis of policy documents on a transnational and national level is used to analyse the policy concept. The thesis also works with a quick analysis of actors and semi-structured interviews with eight experts from public and non-profit sector - specifically with employees of the Asylum and Migration Policy Department of the Ministry of the Interior, the Crime Prevention Department, the State Labour Inspection Office and with social workers of the non-profit organizations La Strada and...
Forced Labour in the Czech Republic

Forced Labour in the Czech Republic Abstract The submitted dissertation thesis examines so far neglected issue of forced labour in the Czech Republic in its complexity, i.e. both its lawful (e.g. work performed by imprisoned persons) and unlawful forms. It seeks to discover whether the present law (and extra-legal regulation) on this topic is sufficient. For this purpose it examines not only the corresponding law across individual branches of law, but also its place in the historical and moral- philosophical context. In the first parts, the submitted thesis deals with the existence of free will as a precondition of considering a work freely chosen and with the existence and content of objective morality as a precondition of considering anything morally right. Special attention is dedicated to forced labour during Protectorate and communist regime in Czechoslovakia. The core parts of the submitted thesis consist of an analysis of corresponding international, European and national law.
